The Event
The Tenacity Games Series
Initially started as Kiteboarding 4 Cancer in 2007, adding standup paddling in 2009 and kayaking in 2011, this one event has grown to a series of events called The Tenacity Games . Each event and the athletes involved raise money for various cancer advocacy, prevention, and survivorship programs in the battle to find a cure.
How it works....
1. Athletes first raise funds via an Athletes for Cancer personal fundraising webpage.
2. Athletes then take on a unique challenge, enduring to the point of exhaustion, testing their mental and physical tenacity, and embodying the struggle someone going through cancer face every day.
This is the Tenacity Games' mantra & motivation in all of our Tenacity Games events.
What it means...
in July's Kiteboarding 4 Cancer , athletes kite for 6 grueling hours in the Kite Derby endurance race. In SUP 4 Cancer , paddlers take on big swell and strong tail winds to brave out a 9-mile downwinder in the mighty Columbia River. In Kayak 4 Cancer , Kayakers will go the distance on water and on-land with a combo flatwater endurance and adventure race. No one said it would be easy.
